The successful candidate will be responsible for taking Tornado’s purchasing process to the next level, as well as, managing the day- to-day purchasing operations for the Company.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish a supply chain management system, in an ISO 13485 environment, to meet the needs of product development groups.
- Work closely with product development team(s) to identify contract manufacturers.
- Identify and evaluate suppliers for components and sub-assemblies required in the development and manufacturing of medical devices that meet quality requirements.
- Work with various geographically distinct teams within Tornado to evaluate competing bids for RFQ’s developed by the Tornado team.
- Manage purchasing through to the delivery of goods by suppliers.
- Responsible for the complete purchasing cycle from evaluating suppliers, PO generation (and tracking) and assembly of the payment package for finance.
- Play an active role in supplier negotiation and evaluation on a regular basis.
- Work in collaboration with the QA team for each project to manage the inspection and qualification of received goods.
- Ensure that purchases remain within budget and on schedule
- Travel maybe required.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Any certification towards this role is an asset.
- 5 years of procurement, purchasing management experience.
- Knowledge of MRP and supplier evaluation.
- Maintenance of an MRP system that is suitable for a small to mid-size medical device company.
- Understanding of GMP in the context of purchasing role.
- Experience with cross border transactions and associated documentation.
- Knowledge of ISO13485 an asset.
- Experience with purchasing of optical and electro-mechanical sub-assemblies for medical devices is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of MISYS manufacturing software products is an asset.
- Good understanding of web-based technologies such as order placement systems.
- Excellent computer and analytical skills rounded with good communication & negotiations skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to positively question the status quo.
- Self-motivated “can do” attitude.
